Before.....

This is what it has looked like for the past 200+ years....Ew. I suppose there is some character, but I personally like the "after" pix better!

After!!!!!

WOW!!!
What a difference!! Again, just wait till its painted....you'll all be jealous! lol jk

Wonder Woman!

Today my dad, brother and I worked on our 200+ year old barn. We had to take all of the siding off (it was originol from the early 1900's!) and then put new siding up. Not an easy task mind you. Its dirty, hard and gross work....especially when 200 year old dirt falls down on your head and face and mouth...EWWWWWWWW!!!! But I ain't dead yet, so I suppose I'll be fine. :)
Anyhoo, I worked the nail gun, sawsaw, and many other tools today of which I am quite proud!! I lifted boards, a giant 75 lb crowbar, and lots of other things.....and I am very very sore. lol But, it was all worth it to look up and see the brand new side of the barn!! Just wait till we paint it!! I'll post some before and after pix...I think it'll help you appreciate it a lil bit more. :)

A beautiful day at the barn

Today was gorgeous, as opposed to yesterday's tornado watch. :) I had a good time at the barn almost all day: Rode Beloved for a lil bit, had a rest, rode her home for lunch then came back to work. Not all that interesting, but I had fun! ^^
Life was pretty dull today I suppose, but I will definatly try to get some better pix 'n stuff tomorrow after my friend's lesson. And I'll get TONS on Sundat at church (;
I guess that's all for now....see ya!

All in all....

The day wasn't so bad. :) We watched Jumper up at the house, ate a late lunch, then hung out for a long time. It was good...not nearly as traumatic as you might think (;

Beloved had fun too....

She ate hay for hours!

LUNCH!....at 3:00pm

Pizza! YUM!

So, what exactly DID we do during the storm?

We chilled at the house!! WOOT! lol

Poor ponies....

Poor babies had to stay out in the rain...but they'll get over it. (;

Oops

Well, it'd prolly be good if I attached the pic!! lol See below for comments....yes I do know that I'm blond

Lizzy and Ak

Girlz girlz girlz.....

LOL! For about 45 minutes we sat on a haybale playing I Spy.....NO THAT IS NOT A LITTLE KID GAME!! lol It suprisingly calmed us all down a lot. We almost forgot about the storm completely. Almost. ^^

So, to always remember one of the scariest moments of our lives....they told me "peace out" and I snapped a picture! lol

Brooke being cool....

Or trying to be anyway lol jk Brookie you know I love you!!! ^^ She refused to give into the pandemonium I must say, and did it rather well.

When the sky rained potatoes...

........and tornados lurk in the distance.............What do you do?!

Well I would not suggest panic, as it seems to cause pandamonium...especially when you have 14 stalls full of horses, plus all 5 cross ties well, tied up. (No pun intended lol) Yep, you guessed it.

Today Maine was under a severe tornado watch for the first time in years. Twisters had actually been seen about 25 minutes away from where I live, and they were headed straight to us. Guess where I was? Yes, you're right again. The barn. It was awful! We were freaked out to the extreme. When we were not shuffling horses and making an escape plan (just in case) Some were crying, some were mad, and others (*cough* BROOKE *cough*) SLEPT. lol

The sky was pitch black for about an hour, then finally lightened to a pleasent gray. :) The watch went from severe to a "not-so-worried-about-it" kinda thing, and we (the barn bums) calmed down dramatically. But for a while there, we thought we was gonna have to head to the celler. God was in control though, and nothing bad came of it, except a few wet girls and horses. ^^ We'll live to tell about it I reackon.....lol

I'll post a few more pix showing what we did after we thought it was safe to leave our beloved beasts. (; lol I think you'll find them quite humerous....

My gorgeous mare!!

Photography by Lizz Bishop! She's da bomb! lol Luff ya Lizzehhhh!

As you can see, Beloved and I had an awesome time free lounging! *explained* I let her go in the ring and she runs around as windly as she chooses...which most often is scary-wild lol. She loves to jump! ^^ And I love to watch. :)

Church was good tonight. We had a visiting speaker that is a missionary to the US Military/Army/Navy/AirForce/everythingelse. He was wonderful! Almost makes me want to join...ALMOST. I'll prolly just stick to praying for them, and sending boxes of goodies every-now-and-again. OMW That reminds me of a story!! Now I must share it with you guys, really I must!.....

When we first moved to Sanford I was 11 years old. After I turned 12, I really started to get into history and our country. It was 2005, four years since the War On Terror had started, and I wanted to do something to "help." But what can a 12 tear old girl from Maine do? I asked myself....and my mom. And she came up with a great idea! I could put together and "goody box" for a soldier. Which one? I asked. We don't know any soldiers. My mom said, that that was the beauty of it. I made a box, sent it, and then God would use it in someone's life over in Iraq. Even though I was a tad bit dissiapointed that it wouldn't go to someone I knew, I agreed and 2 weeks later sent out a box full of all kinds of stuff. A letter telling about myself and why I'd made the box, a few personal items, some candy and a book or two. Plus lots of tracts. :) Weeks, passed, then months, then finally a year had come and gone. I'd forgotten about the box I'd sent until one afternoon I was upstairs in my room, when I heard a faint knock on the door downstairs. I flew down the steps, sure that whoever it was had probably given up by now, and just barely caught a man limping down our front porch steps with a cane. "Hello?" I called out the door then opened it. The man turned and smiled at me. He was missing half of an arm, and had almost lost his leg, I could see. He came back up the steps with the women and said, "I'm looking for Elisabeth Bell." A little puzzled I said, "Thats me." He smiled even bigger and held out a gift bag to me. He said "Young lady, you don't know who I am, but I know you. My name is Sgt. Curtis Mills, and one year ago you sent me a box..." Recognition dawned in my mind and I almost screamed! I called for my parents and introduced them quickly. As they invited him and his wife in, he asked me to open the present. I did, to find a wonderful book of poems that I still have, along with a card that he had written in himself. I know that sounds like no big deal, but you see, his left arm was the one he was missing. Before, he'd been left handed. Plus, his right arm had something wrong with it as well, so writing was a big thing to him. It hurt quite a lot. He ended up staying and talking to us for at least and hour or more. As he left, he thanked me again, but I've never seen him since.

I still have the book of course, I always will keep it. He wrote in the front cover of it as well, and it says this:

"Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

This world is wonderful

Because of people like you"

Even know as I read it, tears fill my eyes. I'm not trying to build myself up or anything...I hope you guys know me better then that. But, always ALWAYS pray for our troops. Even if you don't agree with what they are doing, or with President Bush. They deserve our respect and honor, and most importantly our prayers.

Wow, empty much?

Well, the Assurance trio left Sunday, the Wright's left Monday, and my grandparents left today. We went from Grand Central Station to the Bermuda Triangle in a couple of days! Its a shock to the system I tell you. :( But, I shall live I guess.

On the upside, I'm going to the barn to work tonight! That will get my mind off of our empty house and yard. Although, Ms. Shirly is probably celebrating her "victory" in her mind, eh Mrs. Ann? lol! If only she knew....

Yesterday I hopped on Beloved for a quick ride. My friend, Brooke, had used her in a mini lesson, & she was all tacked up in western gear already, so I decided to go for a spin. We walked to a trail that not many others use, or even know about really. As she clomped thru knee high grass and weeds, I took a moment to look around at the beautiful Maine scenery. We were in a rather open spot really, but trees could be seen in the distance and feilds surounded us with wildflowers blooming all over the place. It was heavenly! She had her ears pricked, enjoying our little jaunt and with a giggle I asked her for a canter. She took off instantly, and I wish so much that someone had videoed us! I'm sure we made a funny picture....LoveBug with her head up like an arabian, neighing and running thru the grass that almost covered her legs. Me with my head back laughing, trying to keep some form of control so we didn't die....Good times. :) I love that horse...I'll have to go back to the field and have someone take pix of us. I'm sure all of you would enjoy it as much as I did.

Well I'll go for now, back to the quiet and boredom. :) lol I'm kidding, its not that bad. I mean, seriously, how much quiet can you get when seven people live in this house?! Not much! ^^

Hmmmmm

Interesting...I've never had a blog before! I really just made one to talk to the Wrights and see their updates...but I could get the hang of it! ^^ I do NOT give out personal info, except that I am way to old for you in my own mind, I don't care what you think and don't care who it hairlips. lol I own my own horse, a stanardbred mare named Beloved and I LUV her to death!
